Budget tech that’s actually worth it
Honest picks for your desk, bag, and charging setup
Welcome! Smart Gear Picks is a small, independent site that tests the research so you don’t have to: practical, affordable gear guides with clear price caps and honest watch-outs.
Hi, I’m Kye. I work a desk job, so I spend a lot of hours surrounded by chargers, cables, keyboards and gadgets. Over time I’ve learned that you don’t need to spend a fortune for a setup that works well. You just need to skip the junk.
That’s why I started Smart Gear Picks: to find the budget tech, desk and travel gear that’s actually worth buying.

How I pick products
- I compare specs, prices and warranties side by side for every product.
- I read through owner reviews looking for the complaints that keep coming up, and I list them as watch-outs.
- I set a price cap for each guide and stick to it.
- I note the date I checked prices, because Amazon prices change constantly.
- When I own something myself, I say so.
If I wouldn’t put it on my own desk, it doesn’t make the list.

How the site makes money
Some links are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what makes the list.
